Search & Rescue Volunteer Policy

Find Me Alive (FMA) provides opportunities for users and members to contribute directly to recovery efforts through search and rescue volunteer work. Volunteering helps expand the reach of official recovery efforts and reinforces the community-centered mission of FMA.

Purpose of Search & Rescue Volunteering
The Search & Rescue Volunteer Program exists to:

Expand Recovery Efforts – Supplement official search and rescue teams with additional community support.

Engage Members – Give users meaningful opportunities to directly participate in the mission.

Support Renewal Compliance – Allow volunteer hours to count toward the Active Renewal Service requirement for referral benefits.

Volunteer Roles

On-the-Ground Search
Assisting official search and rescue teams in locating missing individuals. -
Logistical Support
Helping with supplies, communication, or coordination in support of search operations. -
Awareness Efforts
Posting or sharing missing person information in alignment with official outreach.

Requirements for Volunteers

Eligibility
Volunteers must be registered FMA users, in good standing, and meet minimum age or guardian consent requirements. -
Training & Safety
Volunteers may be required to undergo orientation or basic safety training. Compliance with all safety protocols is mandatory. -
Coordination
Volunteer efforts must be coordinated through FMA or designated partners to ensure effectiveness and safety.

Connection to Active Renewal Service

Hours contributed to search and rescue efforts are eligible to count toward the 10-hour annual renewal requirement outlined in the Active Renewal Service Policy.
